The Publons Academy is aimed at and designed for early career researchers that have already started publishing their research, such as PhD students and postdocs. But others might find it of value too, such as more senior researchers that would like to brush up on their peer review skills.

We do not recommend the course for undergraduate or masters students because the skills to critique published research usually requires some years of both doing and publishing research in order to pick apart methodology, analysis and the discussion of a peer. Nevertheless, if you would like to enrol please make sure you follow the guidelines and write critical reviews rather than summaries. You might also find it more difficult to get a Publons community mentor so perhaps make sure you have someone in your department that can be your mentor in the course.
