Springer Nature has partnered with Publons to give you official recognition for your contribution to peer review. This partnership means you can opt-in to have your reviews for participating Springer Nature journals automatically added to your Publons profile.

When reviewing for an integrated journal: 

  • You will be asked if you want to get recognition for it on Publons 
  • Once your review is completed you will receive an email with a private link to claim your review 
  • Follow the link to add your review to your reviewer profile


Can I still get recognition for my reviews if the article is rejected?  

Yes, you can receive recognition for your contributions by doing either of the below: 

  • Thank you letters: Peer reviewers may share their thank you letters with Publons to receive verified recognition for their review. Forward your thank you letters to reviews@publons.com to add your review record to Publons.
  • Verification certificates: Springer Nature provides verification certificates to all peer reviewers, which can be submitted to Publons who will honor these and record the contribution as a verified recognition. Forward your verification certificates to reviews@publons.com to add your review record to Publons.


Why am I only able to receive direct recognition if the article I reviewed is accepted? 

For participating journals, Springer Nature will directly transmit recognition for your review of an accepted manuscript to Publons.  This opt-in is offered during the review submission process, and if selected, recognition for the review is sent to Publons upon acceptance of the manuscript.  

At present, this is only available for accepted manuscripts due to technical limitations, but Springer Nature and Publons are working to extend it to include reviews of rejected manuscripts. In the meantime, a thank you letter and verification certificate will still be issued enabling all reviewers to get recognition for their Springer Nature reviews.

Will this result in duplications on my review record? 

No, Publons performs comprehensive checks to ensure that review records are not duplicated, so you can rest assured that your reviews won’t be duplicated.
