Verifying reviews means confirming that you the review. Only verified reviews count towards your metrics and are highlighted on your profile. Verification is critical to turning your review efforts into evidence of your previously hidden contributions to science and research.
There are a few ways to verify reviews on :
- Via journal integration
- Via firstname.lastname@example.org
- Verifying Reviews in Bulk
- Verifying using Restored letters
Via journal integration
Reviews which are added through an integration, whether at the time of submission or historically in batches, are automatically verified. You don’t have to do anything further to verify them (though you can make the process of adding them more straightforward, more on that here).
Partnered journals can also verify reviews manually via the partner dashboard. If you have a review for a partnered journal that you would like you can trigger a notification for journal admins from the “Progress” page for that review.
Reviews you have added manually can also be verified through that channel and will be processed much faster than if we add the review as well. Simply include the review’s URL (found in the verification tab of the review’s “Progress” page) in the email body and we’ll push your email to the top of the queue!
Verifying Reviews in Bulk
A more convenient way to verify multiple reviews in one go is by sending a screenshot(s) of the journal's editorial management system where all your review submissions are displayed. Alternatively, you might have a review receipt that acknowledges your review contributions for multiple manuscripts.
When sending review receipts/screenshots to be processed in bulk, please ensure it includes:
- the name of the journal/conference you reviewed for
- the date you completed each review
- the title or manuscript ID of each manuscript you reviewed
Please also ensure have reviewed for the specific manuscripts, rather than providing a general acknowledgement for your review contributions to the journal/conference.
Please note it may take longer to process bulk uploads.
Verifying using Restored letters
If you would like to verify a review through for which you no longer have any evidence of review completion for, you may ask the editor or journal to provide a review receipt (restored letter), which can be used to verify your review(s).
Please ensure the restored letter clearly demonstrates you have completed the specific review(s) and includes the date of review completion (for each review). Please also ensure the name of the journal is included in the letter or email.
If you are requesting verification of multiple reviews using a restored letter, please ensure the date of review completion is listed for each review.
General acknowledgements of your review contributions for the journal/conference without the date(s) of review completion will be rejected as we cannot process a review without the date of review completion.
