What are my reviewer preferences in “Pre-publication review display preferences”?

The review display preferences available in the permissions settings page of your private dashboard allow you to choose your default display preferences for any pre-publication reviews you add to your Publons account.  The standard default setting is to display only the journal you reviewed for and not to publish the review’s content.

Any new pre-publication reviews added to your account will have this default preference set when it is created.  If you wish to update the preferences of all of your reviews at once then you can select “Apply these settings to all of your existing pre-publication reviews” before saving your preferences.  Review display preferences can be updated on a per-review basis from the review edit page.

What are my author preferences in “Pre-publication review display preferences”?

The “Pre-publication review display preferences” available in the permissions settings page of your private dashboard allow you to choose your default display preferences for any pre-publication reviews of your manuscripts on Publons.

As an author, you have the option to permit or prohibit reviewers from publishing their reviews of your manuscripts. Your preference is always consulted before we will display a review publicly.

Select your preference between Allow (let reviewers publish their work) and Disallow (do not let reviewers publish their work).  If you wish to update the preferences across all of your manuscripts at once then also select the “Apply these settings to all of your existing publications” checkbox.

Any new publications added to your Publons profile will have this default preference set when it is created.  These preferences can also be set on a per-publication basis from each publication’s “Activity” page.
