Authentication for Publons is handled by the same service as other Clarivate Analytics products such as EndNote online and Web of Science. This means that you use the same email address and password to login to any of those sites.
On December 17th 2018 Publons migrated our authentication system to that shared by EndNote online, Web of Science, and InCites. For any Publons users who are also users of those other products, this means that the credentials used to sign in to Publons may have changed. Users of other Clarivate Analytics products looking to start using Publons are able to login using their credentials for those products rather than registering a new account.
Whatever your situation, if you have any trouble logging into your Publons account after December 17th 2018 then resetting your password should resolve it.
There are a number of possible scenarios for existing Publons users:
- If you were not a user of any of the other products mentioned above, you will be able to login as normal with any verified email in combination with your password or with LinkedIn, ORCiD, or Google.
- If you were a user of one of those other products and your account there was created with an email which was verified on your Publons profile you will be able to login with any verified email in combination with your password from the other service, rather than your Publons password. You will still be able to login with any of LinkedIn, ORCiD, or Google if you could previously. If you do not remember your password for EndNote online, ResearcherID, or Web of Science we recommend you request a password reset here.
- If you were a user of one of those other products and your account there was created with an email which was not verified on your Publons profile you will now have a duplicate account. You will be able to sign in to Publons using your Publons credentials and the other services with your credentials for those accounts. We can merge these duplicate accounts for you, please get in touch if you would like us to do so.
